All of our activities and events are held in the Pinehurst – Southern Pines area. Our luncheons and evening dinners are generally held on the third Tuesday of each month at a local club and require an RSVP. We welcome all National MOAA members to attend our activities as a guest.

As we approach Spring, I thought it time to update members on recent activity of the chapter and plans for the remainder of the year. Also, I’d like to invite all members and their guests to attend our 2024 JROTC Scholarship Awards Dinner, see attached invitation.

Highlights of the first quarter included the addition of three new members to our board, Bill Colmer, and Mike Hutson. Mike Oriet stepped down from the board after several years as our Secretary. We are very grateful and proud of Mike’s dedicated service to our chapter and thankful for the commitment to service of our new board members. We started the year with 89 members and have added one new member so far this year. We are in the process of updating and publishing our 2024 Membership Roster.

We ended 2023 with a healthy balance in our various accounts and in February the board approved the 2024 budget. That budget included funding eight JROTC scholarships at $1,500 per recipient. The budget also included funding support to Habitat for Humanity’s Veterans Build project and support to veterans attending Sandhills Community College. We are exploring other avenues to identify veterans support opportunities and are investigating a cooperative relationship with local Irreverent Warriors leaders.

Upcoming activities for the chapter include the Scholarship Dinner on April 23rd ,the Memorial Day Service on May 27th at the Pinehurst Village Chapel, and our next Membership Luncheon on June 18th at the Pinecrest Inn. You are invited and encouraged to participate in all of these activities.
